Can one client's challenge improve the experience for every client?

Womble wanted to make its learning videos more accessible, but its existing tools could not add closed captions. The firm brought the challenge to Profiscience. The resulting capability became available to every client.

THE CHALLENGE

An accessibility goal revealed a missing capability.

Womble set a goal of making its learning content accessible to people with disabilities. As part of that effort, the firm wanted to add closed captions to its library of training videos.

Its existing tools did not provide a practical way to make captions available during video playback.

Ian Phillips, Senior Manager at Womble, brought the challenge to Profiscience.

THE COLLABORATION

The request began a product conversation-not a one-off customization.

Profiscience worked with Womble to understand the accessibility objective, the content involved, and how administrators would need to manage caption files.

The goal was to solve the immediate need in a way that fit naturally into the platform and could be supported as part of the standard product.

Through discussion, development, and feedback, the initial request became a broader platform enhancement.

Ian Phillips described Profiscience as responsive to client ideas and easy to work with throughout the process.

THE CAPABILITY

Closed captioning became part of the platform.

Delivered in 90 days

Profiscience developed and released the capability in 90 days.

Administrators can upload a closed-caption file alongside a video, allowing the captions to appear during playback. Womble could continue advancing its accessibility work without replacing its existing video-delivery process.

The enhancement was incorporated into UniversitySite rather than maintained as custom code for a single firm.

THE OUTCOME

One firm's challenge became a capability every client could use.

The work addressed Womble's immediate accessibility need, but its impact extended beyond the original request.

By adding closed-caption support as a standard capability, Profiscience made the enhancement available to other clients without requiring each firm to commission, maintain, or support its own solution.

This illustrates how the platform can evolve: a client identifies a meaningful challenge, Profiscience looks for the broader need behind it, and a useful solution may become part of the supported product.

SHAPED BY CLIENTS

Law-firm administrators help shape what comes next.

Profiscience releases platform updates weekly, but the more important distinction is where many of those ideas begin.

Professional development, learning, CLE, and technology teams bring practical challenges grounded in the way law firms actually operate. Profiscience evaluates that feedback, looks for needs shared across firms, and determines which solutions belong in the platform.

Womble's closed-captioning request is one example of that process.

Ian Phillips noted that Profiscience provides weekly updates and uses ongoing client conversations to keep improving the platform.

What challenge could help shape what the platform does next?

Profiscience works closely with clients to understand the problems behind their requests and identify improvements that may benefit the broader client community.
